Position: Part-Time Tasting Room Server

 

Summary

Jenny Dawn Cellars is an award-winning wine brand gearing up to open its wine production facility and tasting room at Union Station in Wichita, KS. We are currently recruiting for seasonal part-time morning, evening, and weekend Tasting Room Servers with the possibility of staying on staff after the holiday season. The winery will open in November but this position will start training in October. 

 

We will be hiring two staff members for morning shifts, and three to four staff members for afternoon shifts. Shift times are included below:

 

Morning shift times:

Monday: 11:00AM - 3:00PM

Tuesday: 11:00AM - 3:00PM

Wednesday: 11:00AM - 3:00PM

Thursday: 11:00AM - 4:00PM

Friday: 11:00AM - 4:00PM

Saturday: 11:00AM - 4:00PM

 

Afternoon shift times:

Monday: 3:00PM - 7:00PM

Tuesday: 3:00PM - 7:00PM

Wednesday: 3:00PM - 7:00PM

Thursday: 4:00PM - 10:00PM

Friday: 4:00PM - 10:00PM

Saturday: 4:00PM - 10:00PM

Sunday: 3:00PM - 7:00PM

 

The compensation for this position is $7.25 per hour plus tips.

 

The ideal candidate should be professional, love the color purple, be reliable, enthusiastic and have a passion for wine. In this role, the Tasting Room Server will work in a team environment to build strong connections with our guests and successfully promote our products and services. 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Support and carryout the mission and vision of Jenny Dawn Cellars by taking exceptional care of our guests.

  • Understand our products and services; fully inform potential customers.

  • Educate our guests on the history of the brand and the wines.

  • Properly open and pour Jenny Dawn Cellars wine.

  • Handle cash drawer, wine, and food sales.

  • Take part in off-site pouring, tastings and events as needed.

  • Maintain a clean work environment.

  • Take part in food preparation for guests

  • Handle food service for guests

 

 

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Previous work experience in the restaurant/bar industry.

  • Passion for wine and customer service 

  • Engaging, outgoing, approachable personality.

  • Passion for meeting new people and evangelizing wine products.

  • Ability to work 3-4 shifts per week, averaging 15-20 total hours.

  • Above average knowledge of wine and the wine industry.

 

 

 

Work Environment

• Projects can take place both indoors and outdoors where temperatures can range from cold to hot depending on the season.

• Noise level is usually moderate.               

 

Physical Demands

• Full body mobility. Ability to stand, walk, bend, sit, use tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, kneel.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

• Regularly required to roll, move, and/or lift 60-gallon empty wine barrels when needed.

Founded in 2016 by Jennifer McDonald, Jenny Dawn Cellars has grown from the dream of an at-home winemaker into Wichita’s first urban winery startup.

 

​In 2017, Jenny Dawn Cellars established a working partnership with a wine facilitator in Napa, California that serves as our base of operations while we continue to develop and prepare for our home location.  We have 6 wines on the market: 2016 Pinot Noir, 2016 Chardonnay, 2017 White Wine, 2017 Rosé, 2017 Pinot Noir and 2017 Chardonnay. Our wines can be purchase online and at 8 retailers across Kansas.
