Celebrating Wine and Mothers

So many wonderful memories accompany a bottle of wine.

It's truly amazing the power wine has to bring people together and to assist in deepening the relationships between moms, daughter and girlfriends. We love hearing stories about wine, laughter and relationships. So much so, that we've pulled together a collection of fun stories from our team, all stemming from memories with mothers and girlfriends.

We're so excited to share these special stories with you:

Holidays can be stressful, but for me Mother’s Day is not. It is a time to create new memories with my Mother and my Grandmother. During the holiday’s I make it a point to always bring some kind of new wine for my family to try. I love the experience of trying something new with family. More than anything, I enjoy sharing a bottle of wine with my grandmother. She’s always eager to try new things and we’re always excited for the opportunity to sit back and relax while enjoying a glass. The latest holiday that we got together for was Easter, and I was beyond excited to bring the wines that Jenny Dawn Cellars just released. I didn’t waste any time when I got to my mother’s house, I made sure I got everyone a glass of wine and sat back watching them enjoy it. My grandmother was the first to ask for a refill. It was so amazing to hear how proud she was of my journey on the team and how much she loved the wines. I’m incredibly grateful for my grandmother and everything she does for me, it was so important to me that we could share these wines together.

Cheers to making new memories over our favorite wines!

Mother’s Day is always a special time for me as my Mother was one of my inspirations in starting Jenny Dawn Cellars. My Mom is a huge white wine enthusiasts and loves our 2016 Chardonnay. I personally enjoy sipping wine because some of my fondest memories come from the experience of sharing wine with loved ones. Growing up, I remember wine being enjoyed on special occasions and with holiday meals. It was always fun to see what wine would be paired with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. One of my favorite wine memories with my Mom comes from an experience that took place in the fall of 2006. We met at a vineyard outside of Lincoln, NE called James Arthur Vineyard. It was a beautiful October day we had the opportunity to purchase a bottle of wine, sit, visit and enjoy watching my son play in the vineyard. My Mom and I still talk about how peaceful and fun that day was sitting outside and drinking wine. The love of wine truly brings Moms and daughters together. I am grateful that we have 4 fabulously delicious wines for women to sip this Mother’s Day. Cheers!

In my years of growing wiser in age, I’ve come to realize the importance of self-care. Mother’s Day weekend is the perfect time to remind women of all ages how to love ourselves and take care of ourselves. Self-care allows the opportunity to “wind down” so we can continue to give to others. For me, I have adopted Wednesday’s as “Winedown Wednesday”. There was one particular Wednesday where I was extremely busy and a little tired and stressed. A gal pal of mine had texted me mentioning how she hadn’t seen any posts from me on Snapchat lately. I explained that my schedule was hectic so I took a hiatus from social media. She responded by saying she was going to swing by for a moment to say hello. Little did I know, she walks in with a bottle of wine and two pre-packaged charcoal face masks advising that we were going to have a midweek spa night at home. We laughed, sipped, and lost track of time from indulging the sweet red wine. I thanked her for the kind gesture and pulling me away from the stresses of life. It’s those moments that are simple that I cherish the most.

Our team loves making new memories accompanied with wine.

From Julie Riley:

On Mother's Day Weekend 2015, my best friend Jen and I were happily enjoying a glass of wine with our boys. At this time, Jen was working for a marketing agency and I was trying to get hired on at that same agency. As it often goes when a good glass of wine is involved we began to formulate ideas of the future. Firstly, we talked of moving to Benton and buying houses together with hangars for our planes. (This has not happened, and I’m okay with that). We planned to have Jen’s husband teach flight school and mine would work on the planes. Next we knew that we eventually wanted to run a social media company together. We chose the name “J&J” social media. Yeah, yeah, I know it wasn’t the most creative name.

The following month, I was hired on at the same marketing agency that Jen worked out. We learned to work together from a business perspective and again reiterated the fact that one day we would go into business together. Later that year, Jen left the agency and began working with Social Media Examiner. In 2016 she formed her company Backspace Media. At that time I was still working for the agency, and I stayed there until, April of 2017. At that time, I formed the company Inspire Media. Through the year of 2017, Jen and I were constantly working side by side, but working on our individual companies. December of 2017, we realized that it was time to merge our companies together and fulfill our plans to own a social media company together. depICT Media was born and became official on January 1, 2018. So while the journey took a few twists and turns and the name we settled on was a vast improvement over our original choice, we can look back to a glass of wine and good conversations to see how far we have come.

From Jen Cole:

I'm a boy-mom and my two best girlfriends are as well. While being a mom is a full-time job and it's so amazing and rewarding, sometimes it helps to enjoy a glass of wine through all of the silliness. As my boys are now 8 and 10 years old, I've found through my years of parenting that being a mom can be even more fun and relaxing when there are strength in numbers, (more moms!) My friends, Julie, Steph and I have always said that "it truly takes a village," and we've had more wine and play dates than we can even count. These times include more giggling than one would think humanly possible, wonderful and deep talks, and more special friendship memories than we can recall. I love being a mom, and I can't wait to celebrate another Mother's Day with my sweet boys tomorrow, alongside a couple of relaxing glasses of wine.

Do you have amazing stories to share about times with your moms and friends over wine as well? We'd love for you to share them with us in the comment section below! And of course, Happy Mother's Day!
